Welcome to Christ Church

We are a Church of England congregation in the heart of Wesham, Lancashire, on a mission to grow together—people of all ages and stages of life—to become more like Jesus, and to faithfully serve our town while sharing the good news of His love.

Important October Update

There are a few key things happening this month that we’d love you to know about:

Harvest Service – Sunday 12th October

  • During the service, we’ll hear from the Food Bank team about their work in our community.

  • You’ll have the chance to bring items for the Food Bank (we’ll share their requested list in a separate post).

  • All donations on the day will be shared between Fylde Foodbankand Bishop Philip's Harvest Appeal, supporting our link diocese in South Africa.

Preparing for Heating Installation

  • After the service on 12th October, we’ll be preparing the building for our new heating system (work begins Monday 13th).

  • Everyone is welcome to stay and help! We’ll provide lunch to share afterwards.

Temporary Venue for Services

  • While the heating work is done, our building will be closed for up to 3 weeks.

  • Services will continue at Medlar-with-Wesham School on Sundays 19th & 26th October.

  • Same time: 9:30am. Please enter through the main school front door – our welcome team will guide you.

  • Christ Church Kids will continue as usual in the school.

Back in Time for All Souls Sunday

  • We expect to be back in our building for Sunday 2nd November (All Souls Sunday)

  • As well as our regular 9.30 service, where names of loved ones who have died will be read aloud, we will also open church 4-5pm for an hour of reflection and prayer, for anyone who would like to come, light a candle and sit in a reflective space.

Starfishes (toddler group)

  • Will meet on Friday 17th & 24th October in the school pavilion(accessed via the path beside the scout hut, from the community centre car park).

  • Starfishes won't meet on Friday 31st October as it is school half term, but will be back on, in church, on Friday 7th `Nov

Children at Christ Church

We LOVE the life and vibrancy that children bring to every area of our church life! A key way of us being able to include and involve children fully, and for them to access everything on offer, is to fill in our consent form. This ensures we have all of the information we need to register them for groups and events, and top keep them safe.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a top priority for us, and we are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Blackburn’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
